An incident of electrocution occurred in the Arnala Dhas Pada area of Virar West on Friday morning while four employees were repairing a transformer. One of them died on the spot, while two others were injured. Two of the injured workers were admitted to a hospital for further treatment.

The police believe that all four individuals were employees of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). A preliminary inquiry by Arnala police, including verification of employee IDs and documents, confirmed their credentials. The deceased has been identified as Jayesh Gharat, 28, an MSEDCL employee. According to police officials, the incident took place around 9.15 am.

A technical fault had been reported in the transformer at Arnala Dhas Pada, following which four employees from MSEDCL’s Vatar division climbed up to carry out repairs. However, electricity unexpectedly surged through the system, electrocuting all four workers. While three of them were thrown off the transformer, Gharat remained stuck and died on the spot. Two of the injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
