Nakabandis organised at 108 prime locations as part of crackdown

Almost 1,870 bike riders were fined for not wearing a helmet during a special drive against traffic violators conducted by the police on Saturday and in the wee hours of Sunday at prime locations such as Marine Drive and Bandstand in Bandra.

“We are committed to ensuring that the traffic norms are not violated by citizens. We organised a drive and carried out nakabandis at 108 prime locations across the city. We have booked people under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, and we are optimistic about continuing this drive,” said a police officer on the condition of anonymity.
According to the data provided by the Mumbai police, at least 6,682 vehicles were investigated throughout the city during the crackdown; 255 were fined for driving on the wrong side while 85 motorists were booked for rash driving and 138 faced action under the Motor Vehicles Act for other offences. In total, 153 vehicles were seized and 20 were booked for allegedly drinking and driving.
