According to the police sources, Pawar had studied Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and was working at a private firm in Andheri. After doing the night shift, he returned home on the morning of March 9 at 8 am and hung himself.

According to the family, Pawar was questioned by the MHB Colony police station about using a stolen bike. The family also alleged that he was tortured by the police and, as a result of this, he died by suicide.

According to the police sources, Pawar was using a bike that was towed by the traffic police on February 19 from Thakkar mall, Borivali West. When the police checked the record, they found that the bike was stolen and a case was registered at the MHB police station by the owner of the bike.

When Pawar went to fetch the bike at the traffic police station, the officers handed him along with the bike to the MHB police station for further investigation, said the officer.

During the investigation, Pawar told the police that the bike belonged to one of his friends, Kamble, who upon questioning, denied owning the bike. Later, Pawar was released by the police in the evening. After getting released, Pawar went to the job at night. Upon his return to his place at 8 am (March 9) when everyone was sleeping, he hung himself, the officer added.

The family rushed Pawar to the hospital for treatment but he was declared dead on arrival. THE MHB police didn't find any suicide note and have recorded the statement of the victim's family. The police have registered a case of accidental death report (ADR) and further investigation is underway.
