A 25-year-old woman left her bag containing 13 tola gold, clothes and some cash in an auto in Western Express Highway. Cops from three police stations coordinated to retrieve it within 2 hours.

Sandhya Kale and her brother Sagar Didore were in a hurry to catch a bus to their hometown in Aurangabad when they left their bag containing gold jewellery in the auto. By the time she realised her fault, the auto had left, reports Times of India.

They boarded an auto at Malwani and got off at Western Express Highway, the bus stop.

“Kale and her brother ran helter-skelter to look for the auto. Traffic constable Pradeep More, on duty on WEH, spotted them and wondered what was wrong. Kale’s brother told More about the bag they had accidentally left behind, but they did not have the vehicle’s registration number,” said senior inspector Mukund Yadav, Dindoshi traffic division.

The couple was brought to Kurar police station where officers checked CCTV footage and traced the auto. More worked to get the contact details of the owner of the auto.

Upon calling the auto owner, More learned that it was rented out and the driver was in Chembur. “More called up his brother, also a policeman based out of Chembur. He told his brother to take the auto and Kale’s bag to RCF police station in Chembur,” said Yadav. More and the brother-sister duo reached RCF police station and found their bag full of valuables intact.
