Of the many post-COVID complications that are emerging over time, doctors across the city have witnessed an increase in the number of cases of facial palsy or Bell’s palsy, a facial nerve disorder. This facial paralysis has also been reported in other countries among people who have taken the
COVID-19 vaccine.

Speaking to mid-day, Dr Prashant Makhija, neurologist, Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai Central said, “COVID has been increasingly recognised to be associated with neurological complications, and one such complication is facial palsy or Bell’s palsy. This involves the facial nerve, which is responsible for the musculature of the face.”
