A nine-member committee has been set up on behalf of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to address issues faced by citizens and businessmen while procuring licences, and to bring transparency in the process. The BMC has also appealed for suggestions which can be sent to the committee.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Sudhakar Shinde has formed the nine-member committee in order to get rid of the difficulties faced by citizens and businessmen regarding permits, and to bring transparency in the process by improving the prevailing method and making radical changes in it. Deputy Commissioner (Circle 4) Vishwas Shankarwar has been appointed chairman of the committee.

The BMC issues licences and permits for various types of businesses and programmes. Dr Shinde received complaints regarding this as the process is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, on the lines of the procedures implemented in the Income Tax Department as well as the Passport Department, the BMC has appointed the nine-member to make the system more efficient.
