Technical glitches have once again slowed down the pace of vaccinations in the city. Less than 50 per cent of the healthcare workers, who received the first dose of the vaccine 28 days back, got the second dose over the past eight days. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials have cited problems in the Co-Win app to be the reason behind the low vaccination numbers. Meanwhile, the civic body managed to achieve only 88 per cent of Tuesday’s vaccination target.

A total of 23,399 healthcare workers had received the first dose between January 19 and 23, the first nine days of the vaccination drive. While the BMC started to give the second dose on February 15, only 10,385 healthcare workers have received it till Tuesday, February 23. While there are many reasons for the pace being slow, like convenience of date, place, side-effects and anxiety, a technical error in the Co-Win app is at the forefront, said a BMC official.
