The city Congress membership drive, that was held online, has thrown up some surprising statistics. In most Assembly constituencies, the number of members registered was much less than the party`s vote share in 2019 and in some, the numbers were much higher.
The digital membership task force is scheduled to meet in the city on Saturday, in the presence of state party affairs in-charge HK Patil. The statistics will be discussed amid eyebrows raised over very low and extremely high registration. Party insiders said it could be accepted that not all the voters are party’s registered members, but the numbers much less than the party’s vote share were a concern.
