Mumbai’s test positivity rate (TPR) continued the downward trend as new daily cases also saw a dip along with COVID-19 fatalities. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 228 new cases were reported along with three deaths on Tuesday. The TPR was 0.78 per cent. All the three deceased had comorbidities. While one of the deceased was in the age group between 40 years-60 years, the other two deceased were above 60 years of age.


The doubling rate improved to 1,596 days on Monday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 474 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday.  In the state, the new cases saw a significant rise as they went above 1,000 along with a rise in COVID-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 1,078 cases were reported along with 48 deaths across the state.


The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,095 recovered and got discharged on Tuesday. Currently the state has 15,485 active cases.  The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal rise in new cases. As per the state report, 434 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai. 


Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR, with 42 new cases. It was followed by Navi Mumbai with 31 cases each. While Panvel saw 14 cases each, Raigad had 24 cases, Vasai-Virar witnessed 26 cases.  MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 14 deaths. Palghar saw 7 deaths, highest in MMR. Kalyan-Dombivli saw five deaths and Navi Mumbai had one.
