The Tilak Nagar police arrested a 40-year-old tailor on Sunday for raping his 16-year-old daughter for a year. He had threatened to kill the girl if she spoke about the rape and the abuse may have remained under wraps had the family’s landlord not noticed that the girl was pregnant and alerted a social worker.

Cops said that the girl, who is seven months pregnant, lived with her father and two brothers in the hutments of the Tilak Nagar area. Her mother had separated from the accused in the month of January. “The accused has eight children in all, from two wives.
