Mumbairsquos District Planning Committee has approved the 202627 Annual Plan allocating Rs 813 crore for key development works in the cityA draft outlay of a total of Rs 81335 crore was approved for the District Annual Plan 202627 with Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde directing officials to ensure timebound highquality execution of development works officials saidThe draft plan outlines funds for infrastructure upgrades basic services and local projects aimed at improving civic facilities and overall quality of life in different parts of MumbaiThe approved outlay includes Rs 78535 crore under the General Plan Rs 28 crore for the Scheduled Caste SubPlan and Rs 72000 for schemes outside the Tribal SubPlan areaChairing the meeting at the World Trade Centre Shinde issued a stern warning to implementing agencies saying officers who fail to complete sanctioned works within stipulated timelines or do not fully utilise allocated funds will face actionldquoEvery rupee sanctioned must be spent effectively and within the prescribed timeframe Development works in Mumbai must reflect international standardsrdquo Shinde said stressing coordinated team efforts across departments as per the officialsPush for full utilisation of 2025ndash26 fundsReviewing the current financial year officials informed the committee that of the Rs 40642 crore approved under the General Plan and Rs 2104 crore under the SC SubPlan only Rs 13116 crore has been spent so farShinde approved the necessary reallocation of funds to ensure 100 per cent utilisation before the financial year endsFocus on Urban Infrastructure Cleanliness and Public ConvenienceDeputy CM Eknath Shinde directed the Municipal Corporation toProvide clean drinking water and toilet facilities in city parksIdentify land for permanent dog shelters to tackle stray dog issuesRemove unauthorised stalls in congested areasEnsure encroachmentfree safe and clean footpathsHe also called for mobile toilets in markets particularly to benefit women and asked departments to coordinate to reduce road accidents and address electricityrelated issuesThe civic body was further asked to beautify the equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Shivaji Park officials notedOn healthcare Shinde said municipal hospitals are providing zeroprescription facilities under the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and directed authorities to propose inclusion of additional treatments not currently covered under the schemeCoastal gardens housing for mill workers pollution controlShinde announced that internationalstandard gardens are being developed along the Coastal Road and at Mahalaxmi Racecourse to be connected via subways Work is also underway to provide housing for mill workers in MumbaiHe instructed officials to step up measures to curb urban pollutionRs 598 crore for core sectorsOf the total proposed outlay for 2026ndash27Rs 59838 crore is earmarked for core sectors including social services agriculture and energyRs 17697 crore for noncore sectorsRs 10 crore for innovative schemesMajor allocations aligned with Sustainable Development Goals includeRs 24242 crore for health infrastructureRs 3146 crore for educationRs 1388 crore for women and child developmentRs 10 crore for skill development and employmentRs 320 crore for solar energy installationsRs 30 crore for fisheriesThe plan also prioritises women empowerment rehabilitation of vulnerable communities solar energy in government offices port development for the Koli community tourismled employment generation and modernisation of government colleges and hospitalsMumbai collectorate to mark centenaryDistrict Collector Aanchal Goyal informed the committee that 202627 will mark 100 years of the Mumbai Collectorrsquos Office with special programmes planned to commemorate the centenary yearAt the outset of the meeting Shinde paid floral tribute to the late Ajit PawarThe meeting was attended by Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha several MLAs senior civic officials and members of the District Planning Committee
