The city witnessed its hottest day of the season on Wednesday at 37.3 degree Celsius. This was a rise as compared 35.3 degree on Tuesday.

India Meteorological Department reported that the sultry weather is expected to last till the weekend. The dry and relatively warm wind coming from anti-cyclone over central India, said Dr. Jayanta Sarkar, scientist at IMD, reported Times of India.
IMD Santacruz observatory reported 37.3 degrees, 4.4 degrees from normal. It was also the highest maximum the city has reported this year.
Shubhangi Bhute, scientist, IMD Mumbai, said the rise in temperature was due to dry and hot air from mid-level atmosphere. “Such conditions will stay till March 5,” she said.
