According to the police, the incident took place when the boy was taking a bath on Saturday. The boy was rushed to the nearby Desai hospital by his father, but the doctors declared him dead before admission. An autopsy was conducted at Siddharth Hospital, Goregaon.
“A detailed panchnama of the incident has been conducted and the statement of the deceased’s advocate father, Teg Bahadur Thakur, 43, has been recorded. An ADR has been registered,” said Inspector Rajiv Chavan of Dindoshi police station.
Speaking to mid-day Chavan said, “It was a heartbreaking incident. People should ensure everything is installed properly in bathrooms. When a basin is installed, care should be taken to ensure the base is very strong as some children also hang on to it.”
