Mumbai Police filed an FIR against BJP leader Mohit Kamboj for celebrating with a sword in public after the arrest of NCP leader and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik.

A case has been registered against the BJP leader at the Santacruz Police station in Mumbai on charges of violating the Arms Act and Covid-19 rules.

A video surfaced on Wednesday purportedly showing the Mumbai-based politician wielding a sword presented to him during a protest organized to hail the arrest of Malik by the ED in a money laundering case.

After the NCP leader's arrest, some BJP workers burst crackers outside the residence of Kambhoj at Santacruz in the western suburbs.

One of the workers gave a sword to the BJP leader which he allegedly raised in the air. As the video surfaced, a police team reached the spot to look into the matter.

"Our team went to the spot and did the verification of the video," said the official.

Speaking to reporters, the Kambhoj said that on orders of the state government, the police have forcibly registered this case against him.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday had arrested Nawab Malik in connection with links with the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and a money laundering case.
