An ammonia gas leak was reported late on Tuesday night at Mahananda Dairy, located opposite the Nesco gate on the Western Express Highway in Goregaon (East). The incident was first reported at around 9:12 pm and an update was issued at 10:56 pm by the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).
According to officials, the leak occurred from a single cylinder in a ground-floor cold storage unit, affecting an area of approximately 500 square feet.
Emergency response teams from the MFB, Mumbai Police, 108 Ambulance service, HAZMAT unit, and BMC ward staff were immediately mobilised to the site. As a precaution, Mahananda Dairy staff were safely evacuated from the premises.
