After the standing committee members demanded a detailed explanation for the shoddy work on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR), where several accidents have taken place since it was opened, the BMC has said all rectification work is being carried out on the flyover. However, the flyover will continue to remain shut for heavy vehicles until the low-lying, high-voltage power cables are shifted, it added.

Last month, mid-day had reported about Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray criticising the quality of the flyover surface at the time of its inauguration, and how such a route was yet to be opened for heavy vehicles. At standing committee meetings, members pointed out how the newly constructed flyover is not technically feasible for heavy vehicles.
