Police arrest milk vehicle driver after tracing him Turbhe within hours

A Jain sadhvi and her sevika who were on a padyatra were killed and one the members of the group accompanying them has been critically injured in a road accident at Karjat on Monday morning. The Karjat police in Raigad District have arrested a 40-year-old man, the driver of a milk vehicle, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday, February 19, at 5.30 am. A total of 12 people including Sadhvi Maulik Puranshreeji were walking from Karjat to Neral. “During their padyatra, an unknown vehicle coming from Neral towards Karjat hit them. In this mishap, the sadhvi and her sevika Lata Sandeep Oswal succumbed to their injuries. While, Dipali Sanjay Oswal is seriously injured and has been admitted to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Panvel where she is undergoing treatment,” said a police officer. Police sources said Lata and Dipali are sevikas.
