The catchment areas of the seven lakes that supply drinking water to Mumbai received a mere 18 mm of rainfall over the past 24 hours. This rainfall brought the water levels in these seven lakes to 11.39 per cent, or 1,64,832 million litres, recorded on the morning of Friday, 6th June 2025.

Twenty-four hours ago, on Thursday morning, the lake levels were at 11.77 per cent, or 1,70,374 million litres, after the city had been supplied with 3,950 million litres of water through the day. About 34 per cent of water is lost during transit, and an additional unaccounted amount is also lost due to evaporation from the surface of these seven lakes, officials clarified to mid-day.

On the same day a year ago, on 6th June 2024, the seven lakes recorded water content at 6.54 per cent, or 94,656 million litres. On 6th June 2023, the lakes recorded water content at 11.42 per cent, or 1,65,236 million litres.
