The sessions court in Mumbai today granted bail to corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar in connection with the drunk driving case, on a surety amount of Rs 30,000.

Judge Sanjay V Patil granted bail to Gadkar, after hearing arguments of prosecution and defence, on a PR bond of Rs 30,000, along with one or more surety.
The judge further laid down four conditions for granting bail to the lawyer &ndash; she should visit the police station as and when required for the investigation, she should co-operate in further investigation, she should not tamper with prosecution witnesses, and should not leave India without the court&rsquo;s permission.
The judge observed that considering the facts and circumstances there cannot be any legal hindrance in the case, and hence accepted the bail plea.
Gadkar was arrested for allegedly crashing her car into a taxi and killing two persons. He lawyer had argued on Tuesday that the investigation was over and no purpose would be served by keeping her in jail. But the prosecution argued that if she was released on bail, it would send a wrong message.

The police had earlier argued that Gadkar was involved in accidents prior to the June 10 incident and she was likely to repeat the offence if released.
According to Senior Police Inspector Dilip Raut, the chargesheet in the case will be filed tomorrow, August 6. Gadkar was in jail for nearly two months.
The case
In the early hours of June 10, an Audi driven by 35-year-old Gadkar rammed a taxi, resulting in the death of two persons including the taxi driver on the Eastern Freeway here. She was allegedly drunk at the time.&nbsp;The deceased were identified as Mohammed Abdul Sayyad (55) and Mohammed Salim Sabuwala (50).
