Nearly 30,000 deaths on Mumbai suburban train network in 11 years: Police

Between January 2014 and May 2025, altogether 6,760 commuters died and 14,257 were injured after falling off trains, as per the GRP data available. In the latest such incident, four commuters, including a GRP constable, died and nine were injured after falling off two overcrowded local trains near Thane.

As many as 29,970 persons died and 30,214 were injured on Mumbai's suburban train network in the last 11 years, according to the Government Railway Police (GRP).

In the latest such incident, four commuters, including a GRP constable, died and nine were injured after falling off two overcrowded local trains near Thane in Maharashtra on Monday.
