The Mahayuti government is committed to Mumbai’s development, and the handing over of keys to new high-rise flats built in place of the old BDD chawls is proof of this commitment.
Addressing the crowd at a key handover function in Matunga on Thursday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that despite opposition, doubts over whether the government would be able to complete the project, and legal challenges, the Mahayuti pushed through and completed the BDD redevelopment.
“This is the kind of commitment the Mahayuti has for Mumbai, and the same will be shown in other infrastructure and housing projects,” Fadnavis said, signalling the issues likely to dominate the upcoming civic elections. The elections for 227 corporation seats are likely to be held at the end of 2025 or early 2026.
