A 43-year-old man who allegedly ended his life, in his suicide note, has accused several of his neighbours, including women, of assault and harassment by lodging a false case against him. The deceased has been identified as Tejas Gujjar whose body was found behind the VSNL residential colony in Gorai on the evening of May 6.

Gujjar was involved in share trading and resided with his beautician wife and two children in Marina Enclave, Jankalyan Nagar, Malvani area, said an officer. The Borivali police have booked all the 12 persons listed by deceased in a case of abetment to suicide and other sections. The accused persons are also residents of Marina Enclave.

Gujjar’s wife reported to the Malvani police station that her husband has been missing since May 3. His body was discovered on the evening of May 6. Earlier, one of his female neighbours, who ran a beauty parlour, had accused him of indecent behavior and gestures, leading to a case filed against him in January. Gujjar had been absconding since then.

According to statements provided to the police by Gujjar's wife, the accused had been harassing him, assaulting him, and abusing him in the past. Gujjar would often intervene and raise objections to the behaviour of his neighbors during society meetings, leading to conflicts. The beauty parlour owner and her staff had allegedly filed a false FIR against him.

"We have registered the case based on the information of the deceased's wife and commenced the investigation. Many of the accused, including women, have been summoned, and the investigation is underway," the officer said. The Borivali police registered a case under sections 306, 323, 34, and 506 of the IPC and initiated an investigation.
