In a significant stride towards advancing the Mumbai to Thane metro network, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken crucial steps by appointing a contractor for the construction of the Mogharpada Depot in Thane. This depot will serve as a pivotal hub for Metro Routes 4 and 4A, facilitating the seamless connection from Wadala to Gaimukh with strategic stops at Ghatkopar, Mulund, Thane, and Kasarvadavali, an official statement said on Tuesday.
According to the statement, M/s. SEW-VSE (JV) L1 bidder has been selected for the Mogharpada depot construction, securing the project with the lowest bid of Rs. 9,05,00,00,000. This expansive depot will span approximately 42.25 hectares in Mogharpada and will encompass a range of essential facilities, including stabling yards, an operational control center, administrative buildings, maintenance and workshop structures, an auxiliary substation, staff quarters, and other vital infrastructure components. Among its features, the depot will house 64 stabling lines (32 present and 32 for future expansion), 10 inspection bay lines, and 10 workshop lines.
