A 45-year-old footpath dweller was crushed to death when a coconut tree split and fell on him near the Gokul Anand Hotel in Dahisar east on Saturday evening at around 4.30 pm.
The deceased, identified as Ramnivas Yadav, a native of the Sidhharthnagar district in Uttar Pradesh, lived on the footpath. The incident occurred while he was resting under the wilted coconut tree. &ldquo;My brother was unemployed and had come to the city a month-and-a-half ago to look for a job,&rdquo; said Mahendra Yadav (25), the deceased&rsquo;s younger brother.
An accidental death report has been registered and the body has been taken to Bhagwati Hospital for autopsy.
