In the series of citizen-centric initiatives, The Ministry of External Affairs, to ease documentation to apply for passports, has integrated passport applications with DigiLocker from January 26, 2021.

Those applying for passports or trying to renew them in Mumbai need not present physical copies of the documents for verification. Documents stored on DigiLocker, the online digitisation service of the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, are now accepted.
Applicants can register an account on DigiLocker before submitting an application. To avail the facility, at the time of filling the passport application, a button 'fetch from DigiLocker’ wit be displayed through which the selected documents can be uploaded via DigiLocker”
The following e-documents stored in the DigiLocker Portal shall be accepted at all Passport Seva Kendras under the jurisdiction of RPO Mumbai.
- Class 10 Certificate / Mark Sheet
- PAN Card
- Driving Licence
- Voter ID Card
- E-Aadhar
