In two separate instances, three boys have drowned. In an incident on June 13, a 15-year-old boy named Ved Turbhekar tragically lost his life in Chembur after falling into a well and getting electrocuted by an electric pump installed there. Turbhekar, who reportedly jumped into the well for a swim, succumbed to the electric shock caused by the pump’s current.

Despite immediate efforts by his family to rush him to multiple hospitals, Turbhekar could not be revived and was declared dead. The incident has sparked outrage, leading to the arrest of Anant Mahulkar, Dayaram Mahulkar, and Hariram Mahulkar, owners of nearby hotels, under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 34 (common intention) by the RCF police. Investigations are currently ongoing to ascertain accountability in this tragic event.

Meanwhile, in a separate development in Vasai, two individuals have drowned in a pond, with concerns being raised about the safety and whereabouts of three other children who were in their company. The incident occurred around 1.30 pm near Fatherwadi, close to the former airfield area of Vasai. The children, all minors, were playing near an uncovered well, situated in front of Vidya Vikasini School along the Mumbai-Delhi corridor. Due to unknown water depth, two boys lost their lives after falling into the pond. Local residents managed to retrieve their bodies promptly, but the search continues for the missing children.

The deceased have been identified as Amit Sharma, 13, and Abhishek Sharma, 14. Additionally, efforts are underway by the Vasai-Virar Fire Department to locate the three missing youngsters, namely Dholu Gupta, 16, and Krishna Gupta, 10.
