Mumbai local trains: Over 230 long-distance trains, in Mumbai, are set to experience either full or partial cancellations between October 26 and November 7 as a result of the essential construction of the sixth railway line connecting Khar and Goregaon, a project announced by Western Railway authorities, PTI reported.

A statement from Western Railway (WR) details that 43 mail and express trains will face complete cancellations, while 188 others will be partially cancelled or short-terminated, a railway term indicating the early termination of services before the scheduled final destination.

According to the report, the disruption is attributed to the crucial non-interlocking work required for the construction of the sixth railway line connecting Khar and Goregaon, spanning an 8.8-kilometre stretch. The railway authorities assure that the work on the sixth line between Khar and Goregaon is progressing at a rapid pace.

The affected passengers are encouraged to check with Western Railway authorities for specific details of train cancellations and alternative travel arrangements during this period. Additionally, travellers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the potential delays and changes in their travel schedules.

The WR said that they will carry out maintenance work of tracks, signalling and overhead equipment, a jumbo block of five hours will be taken on up and down fast lines between the two stations from 10 am to 3 pm on October 22.
