As part of I-Day preparations, cops examine 1,235 accused in the city during combing operations

Mumbai Police are on alert so that nothing untoward happens on Independence Day today. The police force carried out Operation All Out on Friday night and arrested 79 absconding accused along with 32 others against whom a non-bailable warrant was issued.

The combing operation was conducted at a total of 230 places in the city, in which 1,235 accused were examined. Of these, 382 others were found to be history-sheeters and preventive action is being taken against them.
This operation continued from Friday at 11 pm to Saturday 2 am. According to Mumbai Police, a total of 869 hotels, lodges and restaurants, besides people’s places of stay have been searched under this operation. And, 37 cases have been registered for possession of illegal weapons, in which 35 knives and two firearms were confiscated.
In this operation, led by Vishwas Nangre Patil, around 121 people have been arrested under the NDPS Act for buying or selling narcotic drugs. During this, 9,661 two-wheelers and four-wheelers were searched in which action has been taken against 1,946 drivers. Action was taken against 148 illegal hawkers as well.
Mumbai Police spokesperson Chaitanya S said, “Operation All Out has been carried out in the entire city for the security of August 15. Along with this, Mumbai Police is appealing to the people to not believe any rumour on social media platforms.”
