Police scanned 233 two-wheelers and 2,440 four-wheelers

In a run-up to the polls, the police combed the city to apprehend known anti-social elements as a safety measure. Through Operation All Out, under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Vivek Phalsankar, the cops netted eight wanted persons in 24 hours between May 3 and May 4.


The accused are wanted for various serious offences throughout the city, and have been charged with 53 non-bailable offences.  The police raided 24 spots and arrested 30 persons for being involved in gambling and selling illicit liquor. They have also charged five under NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.


Under the same operation, action was initiated against 154 illegal hawkers, and police also raided 800 illegal hotels and lodges to flush out suspicious elements. Additionally, action has been initiated against 49 persons for allegedly possessing knives and swords.  Nakabandis have been imposed at 111 spots. “We investigated 7,233 two-wheelers, 2,440 four-wheelers, and nabbed 77 drinking and driving cases,” said the officer.
