Swift action by a railway staff saved a life of a senior citizen who was crossing rail tracks at Kalyan station on Sunday afternoon. The visibly shaken senior citizen escaped without any major injuries.

"We were working on the rail tracks for routine maintenance when we saw an old man crossing the tracks same time as the 02193 Mumbai-Varanasi train departing from the platform. It happened in a split second and I just shouted out to the loco pilots of the train, that was just beginning to gather momentum," said Chief Permanent Way Inspector (CPWI) Santosh Kumar, who was at the site.
