Mumbai rains had not been good enough during the month of August. So much so that the city had not recorded heavy showers in the first half of August. Rainfall activity had remained on the lighter side, especially in the latter part of July and first half of August.
Only thrice did the city record showers in double digit, out of which heavy showers of 54 mm were witnessed on August 14. During the same time, Mumbai's neighbour city, Thane had recorded a whopping 77 mm of rainfall.
