The water stock in all lakes increased significantly within a day as it rained heavily outside the city limits. Modak Sagar and Tansa lakes started overflowing on Thursday. They had less than one-third of the stock four days ago. Meanwhile, Mahabaleshwar received the highest single-day rainfall in the country.

The lakes, located at the border of Thane and Palghar, received more than 300 mm rain in just 24 hours and the stock increased from 18 to 54 per cent within four days. The current stock is more than what it was on this day in 2020 and 2019.
