Mumbai: Rs 45 lakh fine collected from nearly 23,000 maskless people in a day

The officials said they are also making violators do community service like sweeping the road if they can’t pay the fine.

The police, BMC, Western Railway and Central Railway have collected Rs 45 lakh as fine from 22,976 no-mask violators in the city, on Monday, reports Times of India.

Despite repeated appeals and a rise in COVID-19 cases, Mumbaikars do not seem to adhere to safety norms, including wearing masks.
