A 19-year-old lost her life on Tuesday morning while taking a selfie with her brother who was on his way to a school picnic. The police said the girl was standing close to the bus window while her brother was peeping out of it. As the bus moved out of the school’s gate, the girl’s head got trapped between the walls holding the gate and the bus. She sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Siddhi Phutane—a college student residing in Virar West—had just dropped off her brother Om, 10, at the Narshin Govind Vartak school (NGV) in Virar West, where he studies. The school had organised a picnic at Kidzania in Ghatkopar. The incident took place around 7.30 am, while she was taking selfies and creating videos with him.
