Passengers onboard the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express on Sunday were flustered when the train did not stop at Andheri station, a halt that has been provided in view of the pandemic. This happened minutes after an announcement was made that the train would stop at Andheri. However, soon after an unscheduled halt was arranged at Dadar, where a number of passengers got off.

“Today the Tejas Express skipped the scheduled stop at Andheri station. Finally, it halted at Dadar. More than half of the passengers were waiting to get off at Andheri. This happened minutes after an announcement was made about the stop at Borivli. There were no announcements or apologies after the fiasco. My wife was forced to travel back from Dadar. What will be the compensation for this?” said architect Jagdeep Desai.

Another commuter Divyesh Dhebar said the train did not stop at the Andheri station even after the announcement. “Obviously the driver forgot to stop the train at Andheri. Strict action should be taken,” he added.

While no railway official came on record about the fiasco, some said that the matter had been taken note of and 42 passengers got off at Dadar where an unscheduled halt was arranged.

A Western Railway spokesperson said, “The onboard IRCTC officials immediately brought the matter to the notice of the higher officials and an unscheduled halt was arranged at Dadar. De-boarding of approximately 42 passengers was facilitated. The matter is being looked into.”
