The Vile Parle police have registered an FIR against unknown people after a man’s throat got slit by a manja while he was riding his bike. The police said the 42-year-old, Jalinder Memane, who works as a watchman had a narrow escape and timely treatment saved his life. The incident came to light on January 14 when the Vakola traffic division received a call about a man whose throat had been slit by a manja that had got tangled with the railing on the highway. By the time the police reached, locals had already taken the injured man to the hospital.

By the time the police reached the spot, locals had already arranged for a taxi to take the injured man—identified as Jalinder Memane, 42—to hospital. “We received a call that a manja had got tangled around a person’s neck on the Western Expressway. Since I was in the opposite direction, I took the help of a local biker to reach the spot. The locals had already arranged for a taxi and we took him to V N Desai Hospital without further delay. We also informed the Vile Parle police about the incident and traffic was cleared along the route,” said an officer posted with the Vakola traffic division.
