The victims were rushed to the hospital by another house help who entered the house after no one responded to their incessant knocking. Fortunately, all of them regained consciousness and were subsequently discharged. The Khar police, after registering an FIR, seized the food served to the victims and sent it to a forensic lab for analysis. They also recorded the statements of family members.
According to a police officer, the incident occurred between 8 pm and 9 pm. After the family consumed the meal prepared by the accused, they fell asleep. DCP Krishnakant Upadhyay of Zone 9 told mid-day, “Both help mixed sleeping pills in the food, causing the victims to fall unconscious. We have registered an FIR and the complainant is Sunita Jhaveri.”
“The victims regained consciousness at the hospital. They were then discharged and are out of danger. We have recorded their statements and are tracing the accused," DCP Upadhyay explained. A police officer added, “The FIR was registered under Sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with the intent to commit an offence), 381 (theft by clerk or servant of property in possession of the master) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention–when a criminal act is done) of the Indian Penal Code."
