A whopping fine of Rs 21 cr was collected under an array of offences; the huge numbers are attributed as many as 3.10 lakh ticketless/irregular passengers and fines also included unbooked luggage cases

Ticket checkers have netted tidy sums for the railways

The Western Railway recovered a sum of Rs 21 crore in one month (April 2025) in just fines from WR’s commuters from which Rs 6 crore is from ticketless commuters.

“The highly motivated ticket checking team under the supervision of senior commercial officers of Western Railway organised several ticket checking drives in 
the month of April 2025, thereby recovering an amount to the tune of Rs 21.89 crore, which also includes Rs 6 crore from the Mumbai Suburban section,” WR’s chief public relations officer Vineet Abhishek said.
