Mumbai witnessed a fall in the test positivity rate (TPR) as well as the number of daily infections for the third consecutive day, on Sunday. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s latest report, the city added 19,474 cases in 24 hours and registered a TPR of 28.53 per cent, down from Saturday’s 20,318 and 28.6 per cent, respectively. On Friday, the BMC had confirmed 20,971 cases and recorded a TPR of 29.9 per cent.
Health experts said Mumbai still needs to wait and watch to understand if the trend would continue or figures would rise again. The daily death toll, however, rose on Sunday to seven from five on Saturday. Five of the deceased had comorbidities. While one of the seven patients was in the age group of 40-59 years, the rest were senior citizens.
