For the second consecutive day the city saw a marginal drop in cases on Friday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 262 new COVID cases were recorded after conducting 33,834 tests. The test positivity rate (TPR) was 0.8 per cent. Even the number of deaths fell to one. Meanwhile, 997 cases were reported in the state along with 41 deaths. “Even after Diwali the cases are within limit,” said an administrative official of the BMC.
The deceased had comorbidities and was between 40 and 60 years of age. The doubling rate dipped to 2,136 days on Friday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 217 people were discharged after full recovery. The state saw a marginal drop in new cases and it was below the 1,000 mark. However, the fatalities increased. As per the state health department report, 997 cases were reported along with 41 deaths across the state. Of the fatalities, 15 were reported in the MMR and 16 in the Pune circle.
