A major fire broke out late on Sunday night at a godown located within a truck parking area near the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market in Sector 20 of Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. The incident, which occurred when most of the area was quiet, led to widespread panic and significant destruction in the vicinity.
The flames, which spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable materials and multiple parked vehicles, caused extensive damage to the infrastructure within the parking terminal. Several trucks and other vehicles parked in the area were completely gutted, with only charred remains left behind. The godown itself suffered severe structural damage, reported news agency ANI.
Upon receiving distress calls, multiple fire brigade units rushed to the spot and began a large-scale operation to douse the flames. The firefighters worked through the night to bring the situation under control and prevent the fire from spreading further to nearby areas, including the APMC market premises.
