Mumbai police on Friday registered a case against NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad and others for obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties during a protest at the Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan, an official confirmed, reported news agency PTI.
Awhad was forcibly removed by the police in the early hours of the day while protesting against the detention of his supporter, Nitin Deshmukh.
However, Deshmukh had reportedly been assaulted by supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar during a scuffle within the building the previous day.
