A small part of the National Highway 48 on the Mumbra bypass stretch will remain shut for 24 hours this weekend, for the final bit of work on the city's most delayed rail line, the Diva-Thane project. It is now nearing completion after an over 11-year delay. Traffic movement could be affected for the period.
Officials said the work will be done on March 6 and on March 21 in two parts. While the road stretch will be shut for a period of 24 hours starting Saturday midnight, the bypass highway traffic will be diverted on alternative roads. “The stretch is particularly important for cargo traffic to and from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), but adequate diversions are in place and all the concerned have been alerted,” an official said.
