Parts of Mumbai to be hit by 10 per cent water cut

Most of south Mumbai will be affected by the water cut

The work of installing a 900 mm valve at a pumping station at Panjrapur will be carried out on Thursday. As a result of which there will be a 10 per cent cut in water supply to the western suburbs, south Mumbai (excluding F South and F North ward) and L and N wards in the eastern suburbs. 


The new pumping machinery of the capacity of 80 MLD per day will be added to the existing sets at Panjapur pumping station. The installation of a new valve is necessary before setting up the new machinery, officials have said. 


The work of installing the valve is scheduled between 8 am on Thursday, August 26, and 8 am on Friday, August 27. 


The Panjrapur station will be closed during the period and it will affect water supply of the city for 24 hours. 

The entire area of western suburbs will get 10 per cent less water during those 24 hours. 

South Mumbai, except for F North and F South (Parel, Lalbaug, Wadala, Sion) area and L ward (Kurla, Chembur), N ward (Ghatkopar) will receive 10 per cent less water.
