Pongal 2023: Mumbai Traffic Police issues diversions in Dharavi for January 15

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Saturday issued a list of traffic diversions in Dharavi ahead of Pongal celebrations in the area. 


In a traffic notification, the police said that on January 15, under the jurisdiction of Dharavi Traffic Division, the Pongal festival will be celebrated traditionally.


It said, on 90 feet road in Dharavi between Kumbharwada Junction to Ashok Mill Naka Junction the festival would be celebrated traditionally by arranging Puja. Huge amount of people would gather at 90 feet road that would lead to traffic congestion on the said road. 


The notification issued by Raj Tilak Roushan, DCP, Traffic, Mumbai said, In order to prevent danger, obstructions and inconvenience to the public traffic arrangements are being made.

It further said, on January 15, between 05.00 hrs to 10.00 hrs in the morning following changes have been made temporarily.

Road Diversions-

- Vehicular traffic coming from Mahim and Dharavi 60 feet road and going towards 90 feet road shall proceed through Kumbharwada Junction along Sion Hospital bridge towards their desired destination. 

- Vehicular Traffic coming from Sion Railway bridge, L.B.S. Road along Saint Rohidas Road towards 90 feet road shall proceed through Y' junction to their desired destination.
