Last week, MiD DAY had reported that Pradeep Rekhyani's (47) swine flu treatment cost his family Rs 10 lakh.
While half of that amount was paid by selling all the family jewellery, the Rekhyanis had decided to mortgage their home to pay the remaining Rs 5 lakh.

Kind-heartedAfter reading that story on September 28, actress Sushma Reddy has come forward to help the Rekhyanis.

"My friends and I will do whatever we can in this case," she said.
However, by the time Reddy got in touch with the Rekhyanis, they had already mortgaged their 1BHKu00a0 flat in Andheri.

"We were left with no other option. We have to pay back the money in six months, according to the official papers.
But we've been told verbally that we can return the money in a year's time," said Pradeep's son Karan.
Reddy hopes they can convince the hospital to return Rs 5 lakh to the Rekhyanis, which they will then reimburse.
