According to the latest data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the collective water levels in the seven reservoirs supplying drinking water to the city have reached an impressive 99.23 percent, amounting to 14,47,363 million liters of water.

Among these vital water sources, Modak Sagar Lake, one of Mumbai's primary reservoirs, began overflowing on July 27 at 10:52 PM, followed by the Tulsi Lake on July 20, both triggered by heavy rainfall in the city and its suburbs. Mumbai relies on a network of lakes, namely Tulsi, Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna, for its water supply.

Specifically, the data from BMC reveals the following water levels in these reservoirs: Tansa at 99.26 percent, Modak Sagar at 99.99 percent, Middle Vaitarna at 97.51 percent, Upper Vaitarna at 99.36 percent, Bhatsa at 99.04 percent, Vihar at 100 percent, and Tulsi at 100 percent of their useful water capacity.

Despite this substantial reservoir capacity, the India Meteorological Department has issued a prediction of moderate rain and thundershowers for Mumbai city and its suburbs. The forecast suggests that the intensity of rainfall may increase as the day progresses, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.

The IMD Saturday predicted the possibility of moderate rain and thundershowers in Mumbai city and its suburbs. The weathermen have indicated that the rainfall may intensify towards the afternoon and evening.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, in a statement, said that the city will witness a high tide reaching a peak of 4.73 meters at 12:12 PM today.

In the wake of yesterday's rain, which brought varying levels of precipitation to different parts of the city, the average rainfall in the Mumbai Metropolitan region from 8 AM on September 29, 2023, to 8 AM today stands at 3.52 mm for Mumbai City, 4.47 mm for the Eastern Suburbs, and 6.14 mm for the Western Suburbs.

Additionally, the high tide expected tomorrow at 00:52 AM on October 1, 2023, is forecasted to reach 4.85 meters, followed by a low tide at 06:38 AM, with a height of 0.78 meters.
