Devotees are gearing up to celebrate Shardiya Navratri, a nine-day festival from September 26 in India. The nine-day-long festival is dedicated to Goddess Durga and is celebrated widely to mark the victory of good over evil. It is one of the biggest festivals in the country.

Besides offering prayer, the devotees of Goddess Durga also observe fast for all nine days to seek her blessings. This year, the Navratri festival will commence on Monday, September 26 and will go on till Wednesday, October 5.

As a tradition, many devotees also follow the colour codes during the nine-day-long festival. The Navratri festival is associated with the prominent battle that took place between Durga and the demon Mahishasura.
