The Gamdevi police have arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly murdering a 56-year-old local resident whose body was found on a pavement along Carmichael Road, a posh residential stretch near Peddar Road in South Mumbai.
The deceased, identified as Arvind Atmaram Jadhav, was found with a deep injury on his forehead on Tuesday night. He was declared dead before arrival at the hospital, initially leading police to suspect an accidental fall. However, after being informed by the authorities, Arvind’s brother, Anil, sensed something was amiss. Following a preliminary investigation, officers found signs of foul play and reclassified the case as a homicide.
Both brothers lived at the Chairman Bungalow on Carmichael Road, near the spot where Arvind’s body was found. While Anil, 51, is a musician, Arvind was unemployed at the time, according to police. On Tuesday morning, a passersby noticed Arvind lying in a pool of blood near the Marlboro Compound on ML Dahanukar Marg and alerted the police. After receiving the post-mortem report from Nair Hospital, officers concluded that the assault and Arvind’s death likely took place in the early hours of Tuesday.
