The state government has approving four new police stations, two additional police zones and 1,488 new posts. The creation of Maharashtra Nagar, Golibar, Madh–Marve and Asalpha police stations will redraw jurisdictional boundaries, ensuring that rapidly growing neighbourhoods are no longer serviced by overstretched stations.
The four new police stations will be carved out of existing jurisdictions to reduce pressure on overburdened units. Maharashtra Nagar police station will be formed from parts of the Bhandup and Parksite police station areas, while Golibar police station will be created by bifurcating jurisdictions of Vakola and Nirmal Nagar police stations.
